INSTRUMENT RATING COURSE

Instrument Rating course prepares you for flying with greater precision even in challenging weather conditions.

  • Requirements to start

    - Applicant must hold a valid PPL

    - Applicant must hold a valid night rating

    - Applicant must hold a valid class 1 medical certificate

     

  • Legal Flying Requirements

    - Passed instrument rating theoretical knowledge examinations (these must be written at the SACAA)

     

    - At least 50 hours cross country flight time, at least 10 hours of this must be in the same category of aircraft in which you are seeking an instrument rating.

     

    - 40 hours instrument flight training.

     

    - At least 5 hours of instrument flight training must have been done on the type of aircraft that will be used for the skills test.

     

  • Examinations

    - 40 hours instrument flight training.

     

    - At least 5 hours of instrument flight training must have been done on the type of aircraft that will be used for the skills test.
